Terms and Conditions

 

 

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY OUR TERMS & CONDITIONS BEFORE BOOKING WITH US.

For the purpose of this document, following words shall refer to the following meanings:

  1. “The Company/We” shall mean AH Electrical Ltd.

  2. “The Customer/client” shall mean the person or organisation that contacted the Company and for whom the Company agrees to carry out works &/or supply materials.

  3. “The Operative/Engineer” shall mean the representative appointed by the Company to carry out the works.

1. General

1.1 The Company reserves the right to refuse or decline work at its own discretion.

1.2 Work carried out on behalf of AH Electrical Ltd may be completed by directly employed staff or by company approved sub-contractors.

1.3 The customer shall at their own expense be responsible for obtaining all necessary planning and consents where appropriate in relation to any electrical installation work taking place. i.e. any planning applications/building regulations/mortgage approval for new structures etc

 

1.4 The customer agrees to provide reasonable access to the property to enable work to be completed.

 

1.5 The customer is liable, at their own expense, unless agreed otherwise to provide access to basic sanitation and welfare facilities for any operatives on site working for or on behalf of AH Electrical Ltd.

 

1.6 All work, whether confirmed by email/text/mobile phone messaging or short notice via verbal confirmation shall be subject to the terms and conditions stated below unless otherwise agreed beforehand in writing. A written quotation with detailed job specifics will be given for larger, more involved works.

1.7 Any electrical installation/addition or alteration works will comply with the current BS7671: 2008 wiring regulations and any current amendments in force at the time.

1.8 For electrical work to be carried out, some disruption to the electricity supply will be required on occasions. This, where possible will be kept to a minimum, however some works may involve power outages for extended periods. Customers will of course, where possible be made aware of this in advance of works taking place. – However, on occasions it is impossible, when working on some electrical installations not to be able to fully isolate the circuit from protective devices i.e.RCD’s. Therefore, an unintended power failure may occur.

1.9 Any instances where the client has been made aware of possible power disruption for booked work, and whilst on site the engineer is not granted permission to switch off, then minimum charges may apply if scheduled work cannot proceed.

1.10 The company must be made aware of any sensitive or safety critical equipment at the location of the works. We will not be held responsible for any loss or damage, as a consequence of disconnecting the power supply to any vital equipment etc.

1.11 A minimum charge of 1 hour at the designated hourly rate set by the company, will apply for every required appointment, unless stated otherwise. Thereafter time on site is billable at 30-minute intervals. If work extends into a period with a higher charge, then the customer will be charged at the higher rate unless otherwise agreed.

1.12 Invoices to customers shall be comprised by the sum of materials supplied by the company and time spent by the engineer on site, charged in accordance the company’s current billable rates. This will include any reasonable time spent obtaining unstocked materials etc. Any parking charges/congestion charges incurred will be additional to the company’s hourly rate.

1.13 Collection of non-stocked items required to complete any works will be chargeable, however time incurred must be kept to a minimum where possible and the client will be informed if the engineer must leave site for this reason or any other.

1.14 If the client fails to provide access to the property at the time of booked work or does not make arrangements for access by key etc, the customer will be charged for time spent waiting for access or for 1 hour’s labour: whichever is the greater. This will be in addition to any parking charges etc.

1.15 During the completion of the work dust may be present - the amount will vary to the nature of the works and the age of the building. The company will make every effort to minimise dust where possible, however the customer should ensure any valuable or dust sensitive items are removed from the area before work takes place.

1.16 Where work is to be carried out in lived in furnished properties – AH Electrical Ltd expects the area of work to be clear of any obstructions that may impact cable routes or installation methods etc. We accept no responsibility for moving any such items or if any damage occurs to said items when they are in proximity of works taking place.

1.17 A general standard of cleaning and tidying will be carried out on the completion of each job. It will be the responsibility of the customer to appoint a third party cleaning company at their own expense, should they require further cleaning to a more professional standard.

 

2. EV Chargers

2.1 For quotations given without a site survey: the costs given are based on a ‘Standard Installation’ – To allow a ‘Standard Installation’ to proceed we have assumed that your property and electrical installation meets the following criteria listed in the information below.

2.2 If the customer accepts a quotation for a ‘Standard Installation’ and the attending engineer finds that the existing Electrical Installation does not meet the criteria detailed below, the customer will be made aware and additional costs will be confirmed before the installation can proceed. If this delays the installation going ahead until additional costs have been confirmed then, a minimum charge of 1 hour at the designated hourly rate set by the company, will be charged to cover the cost of the engineer’s attendance.

2.3 Should the engineer attending site then be instructed to carry out a site survey to calculate the additional costs required for the installation to proceed, a site survey fee of £75 will be incurred.

2.4 As for the cost of the Survey: a) If the Survey reveals that we cannot complete the Installation, we will refund the cost of the Survey. b) If the customer receives a revised quotation which lists the addiotnal costs and chooses not to proceed, they will bear the cost of the Survey. c) If the Installation goes ahead, this cost will be deducted from the total cost of the completed Installation.

2.5 ‘Standard Installation’ Criteria

 

  1. The existing electrical installation meets the current BS7671 standards for electrical installations and does not require any upgrading works to be completed, i.e. all earth bonding is in place, meter tails are acceptable etc

 

  1. The electricity meter and service cut out is located next to your consumer unit and there is adequate working space around them.

 

  1. The service cut out has a 100A Main Fuse.

 

  1. Your consumer unit is of a metal construction, has a SPD (surge protection device) fitted, is of a suitable mainstream brand (Wylex, Hager, Schneider etc), and has a spare non RCD way for which a 2 pole (single module) RCBO could be fitted

 

Or

 

  1. Your consumer unit is of a metal construction, has a SPD (surge protection device) fitted, is of a suitable mainstream brand (Wylex, Hager, Schneider etc), and has a spare RCD protected way (the RCD must be a type A)

 

  1. Your wi-fi network has a sufficiently strong enough signal to allow a solid connection to the proposed location of the EV charger.

 

or

 

  1. There is a ethernet Point available in proximity of the charger, to allow hardwiring to the customers LAN (Local Area Network)

 

2.6 ‘Standard Installation’ List of works

The following items are included with a ‘standard installation’:

  1. Install in your consumer unit a suitable 2 pole RCBO or MCB

 

  1. Run the charger supply cable from your consumer unit through a single hole and along the external building fabric at low level using up to 10m of suitable surface cleated cable.

 

  1. Mount the EV charging equipment and accessories to a flat brick wall or other suitable mounting surface.

 

  1. Connect up any power or data/communications cable to the charger and set any load limits etc.

 

  1. Install any necessary CT clamps or equipment to allow monitoring of the loads etc

 

  1. Connect your charger up to your wi-fi/ethernet network, program any associated apps and confirm functionality etc

 

  1. Help the customer with any associated app set up/ account set up a single device.

 

  1. Carry out all necessary initial verification and testing required by BS7671 and complete any appropriate certification

 

  1. Carry out functionality testing of the charger, demonstrate how to use and confirm that the designated vehicle is charging

 

  1. Apply for any OZEV grants that the customer may be eligible for.

 

2.7 OZEV Grants: To be eligible for any OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) grant funding for the Installation of any Charger, the customer must comply with the Charger Eligibility Criteria at all times. Please note that the OZEV eligibility criteria are subject to change.

2.8 Should the customer wish to claim through an OZEV grant and the Installation falls outside the current eligibility criteria, there will be additional charges for any extra work required to attain eligibility.

2.9 If the customer claims under any OZEV grant Scheme and is rejected by for any reason and cannot be rectified, or the OZEV grant is clawed back or not available for any other reason, you must pay us the company the sum of £350 (being the amount equivalent to the OZEV EVHS grant) within 30 days of being notified.

3. Goods and Materials

3.1 The Company shall have absolute authority to repossess, sell or otherwise deal with or dispose of all or any or part of such goods in which title remains vested in the Company.

3.2 The Company shall be entitled to seek a court injunction to prevent the Customer from selling, transferred, or otherwise disposing of such goods. Notwithstanding the foregoing, risk in such goods shall pass on delivery of the same to the Customer, and until such time as title in such goods has passed to the Customer, the Customer shall insure such goods to their replacement value & the Customer shall forthwith, upon request, provide the Company with a certificate or other evidence of such Insurance.

3.3 Goods delivered remain the property of the company until they are fully paid for. The company remains the owner of the goods until such time as these and all other sums owed by the buyer to the seller are paid in their entirety.

3.4 If the client requires AH Electrical Ltd to install their own accessories etc, i.e., switches and sockets and these items are found to be faulty or not in the location of the works when the engineers are present on site, then if requested to wait for items to arrive on site – standard hourly rates will apply.

3.5 AH Electrical Ltd reserves the right to refuse to install any client-supplied accessories that appear to be damaged, not made to current British or European standards or which would be unsuitable for the intended application/ installation location.

 

4. Installation

4.1 Consumer unit/Fuse board Upgrades may not take place unless an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) or Site Survey with some basic testing in line with Electrical Safety’s best practice guides.

4.2 Where work quoted for is to extend or modify an existing circuit, it is assumed without inspection that the circuit is in adequate condition and complies with the current wiring regulations. Should the installation not be satisfactory we will issue a report and a provisional sum to bring it up to current standards.

4.3 If after further inspection on site or during the removal of the building fabric (i.e., lifting floorboards) at the time of the proposed work, any major non compliances are found with the whole installation or specific circuit to be worked upon. And these non-compliances directly affect the safety of people, property, or livestock, then work may cease until the customer has been informed of such non compliances and any associated costs involved to correct them. The original proposed work may not be able to continue considering what has been found unless the issues are addressed with immediate action. The Company accepts no responsibility for this as it is impossible to locate these non-compliances when they are enclosed within the fabric of the building.

4.4 Position/heights of fittings, routes of cables, and any other electrical accessories or parts of the installations will be determined by the engineer on site in accordance with Best Practice Guides, Building Regulations and current BS7671 Wiring Regulations, unless otherwise agreed or discussed prior to the work being carried out.

4.5 Electrical accessories such as light switches, socket outlets etc are assumed to be in a white plastic finish unless a decorative option has been specified in the customer specific estimate/quote.

4.6 White plastic accessories are usually based on MK Logic range. Decorative accessories will incur additional costs.

 

5. Decoration

5.1 Existing electrical accessories may have to be removed and the fabric of the building may have to be opened for the proposed electrical work to be carried out – it is likely that this may cause damage to the surround decoration of accessories and or surfaces of the property. Repairs or redecoration to these surfaces etc will be the responsibility of the customer or third-party tradespersons.

5.2 Where carpet or flooring is to be lifted or removed for access, every effort will be made to avoid damage and ensure that items are re fitted to an acceptable standard. However, the customer may require qualified persons to re fit items to a professional standard.

5.3 Holes drilled in masonry may result in bricks being blown – every endeavour will be made to prevent this from happening. The customer will be responsible at their own expense for any replacement or repairs to damaged brickwork etc

5.4 Where the company works direct to the customer chases to plastered walls will be filled with the appropriate compounds due to the depth or nature of chase i.e. Bonding coat for deeper chases, Easi fill for shallower chases.

 

6. Builders/Main Contractors

6.1 When carrying out work for Builder or Main Contractors, the following works and associated costs are excluded from our liability:

 

  1. Any external ducts linking buildings, materials, manholes or site services.

  2. Any works associated with external trenching.

  3. Any works associated with BT, Electrical or connection charges.

  4. Any associated mechanical ventilation installation. i.e., Core holes etc

  5. Any associated builders work. i.e the formation of a new structures to house electrical accessories

  6. Any filling of chases or re decoration to the fabric of the building

  7. Any removal of general waste caused by the work

 

7. Quotes and Estimates

7.1 Fixed price quotations are given as a firm cost and will need to be accepted or agreed in writing by the customer. Fixed price quotations will be subject to change as a result of the following:

  1. If after a quotation is agreed; the customer instructs the company (orally or in writing) carry out any additional works not included within the original quotation.

  2. If after quotation is agreed; additional works are required to be carried out ahead of the intended new work. This may be due to failure for the current circuit/installation to comply with current wiring regulations etc.

  3. If after quotation is agreed; an administrative error has been found with the pricing/projected works.

  4. If after quotation is agreed; the cost of materials for the work has risen significantly beyond the company’s control.

7.2 Any estimates/prices given verbally in person/by email or phone at the time of booking etc, are made on the basis of information provided, and shall be intended to give an approximate cost for the work and are in no way a fixed price.

7.3 An Estimate may be given where it Is not possible to detail the exact specification of a particular job

8. Payment Terms

8.1 We accept payment by BACS transfer only. Invoices are payable within 7 days of receipt and any goods or materials supplied will remain the property of AH Electrical ltd until paid for in full. The company shall have absolute authority to repossess, sell or otherwise deal with or dispose of all any or part of such goods in which title remains vested within the Company.

9. Third Party Accounts

9.1 The Customer shall accept sole liability to discharge the Company's account unless he/she discloses to the Company when initially instructing the Company to carry out work and/or supply materials that he/she is acting on behalf of a third party (including, but not limited to, a Limited Company, Charity, partnership, or estate agent). If this should be the case, AH Electrical will require written confirmation from the named 3rd party that they are liable for payment of the work to be completed.

10. Non-Attendance

10.1 Liability in respect of the non-attendance or late attendance on site of the operative/engineer or for the late or non-delivery of materials; Where the date and/or time for works to be carried out is agreed by the Company with the Customer, then the Company shall use its best endeavours to ensure that the operative shall attend on the date and at the time agreed. However, the Company accepts no liability in respect of the non-attendance or late attendance on site of the operative/engineer or for the late or non-delivery of materials.

11. Cancelations

11.1 If the Customer cancels their instructions prior to any work being carried out and materials have been supplied or an order for any such materials etc has been made, then the Customer shall be liable for any related non-refundable expenditure or time related costs incurred.

12 Defects

12.1 If, after the Company has carried out the prospective works, and the Customer is not wholly satisfied with the outcome, then the Customer shall give notice in writing within 10 days to the Company & shall grant the Company access to inspect such works & carrying out any necessary remedial works if appropriate. The Customer accepts that if he fails to notify the Company as aforesaid then the Company shall not be liable in respect of any defects in the works carried out.

13. Complaints

13.1 Where we are unable to resolve any disputes or complaints using our own procedures – as a NICEIC Domestic Installer the customer can contact the NICEIC directly and follow their complaints procedure for a resolution. www.niceic.com

 

14. Guarantee’s:

14.1 The Guarantee shall be for labour only in respect of faulty workmanship for 6 months from the date of completion. The invoice for the work is the base for the guarantee. The Guarantee will become null & void if the work/materials completed/supplied by the Company is:

 

  1. Subject to misuse or negligence.

 

  1. Has been repaired, modified, or tampered with by anyone other than a Company operative.

 

  1.  a customer instructs the engineer to install a product outside of the manufactures recommended instructions and guidance.

 

14.2 The Company will accept no liability for/ or guarantee suitability of materials supplied by the Customer and will accept no liability for any consequential damages or fault.

14.3 If an engineer attends site to carry our remedial works related to a failure of materials or parts not covered by the Company’s guarantee, the Customer shall be charged for such works at prevailing rates.

14.4 Where the Company agrees to carry out works on installations of inferior quality or the installation is over ten years old at time of the works, then no warranty shall be given in respect of such works & the Company accepts no liability in respect of the effectiveness of such works or otherwise.

 

15. Delays

15.1 The Company shall not be liable for any delays or for the consequences of any delays in performing any of its obligations and if such delay is due to any cause whatsoever beyond the reasonable control of the company, the Company shall be entitled to a reasonable extension of the time for performing such obligations.

16. Refund Policy

16.1 In the unlikely event that all parties, after following the companies’ complaints procedure, cannot agree on a satisfactory resolution to a customer’s complaint with either workmanship or supplied materials, then you may be offered a full or partial refund which will be made via the original payment method.

17. Other

17.1 These terms and conditions and any associated policies may be updated at any time and without notice.
